Log your time

Route: /my-time · Role: any signed-in user (engineer-oriented)

Logging your hours is the first step of the workflow. New entries start as drafts — nothing is billable until you submit them and a reviewer approves.

Before you start

You can only log against projects you are assigned to. If the project list is empty, ask an administrator to assign you on Customers and projects.

tip

Admin and finance accounts can log against any active project, so their picker is never empty.

Log an entry

  1. Open My time in the sidebar.

  2. Click Log time (top right). A modal opens.

  3. Fill in the form:

    FieldNotes
ProjectSearchable picker; shows the customer underneath. Required.
DateThe date the work happened. Defaults to today.
Hours / MinutesThe duration. At least one minute.
DescriptionWhat you did. Keep it specific — reviewers see this.
BillabilityBillable, Non-billable, or Excluded. Defaults to billable.
Exclusion reasonOnly when billability is Excluded.
  4. Click Log time. The modal closes and the entry appears as a draft.

What the values mean

  • Billable — counts toward the customer and billing.
  • Non-billable — your time, not charged.
  • Excluded — deliberately left out of billing; add a reason.

See Statuses and states for the full definitions.

The My time table

Each row shows the date, project and customer, duration, billability, and status, with row actions that depend on the status:

  • Edit and Submit — for draft and rejected entries.
  • Delete — for anything not approved.

Summary chips at the top count your entries, total logged, and drafts.

Example

Logging a half-day of Terraform work at Acme:

  1. Log time → Project: Acme — Platform.
  2. Date: today. Hours 3, Minutes 30.
  3. Description: Terraform module review and apply.
  4. Billability: Billable.
  5. Log time.

The entry shows as a draft. Continue to Edit, submit, and delete to send it for review.

Rules to remember

  • Duration must be greater than zero.
  • Hours and minutes are combined into a single duration stored in seconds.
  • The project's customer timezone is attached to the entry automatically.
